Last year’s Champions League finalist took a drastic step. After poor performances in the Bundesliga as well as in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund’s management has sacked coach Nuri Sahin. Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italian side Bologna proved to be his undoing.
Under Sahin’s leadership Borussia are currently in an unflattering 10th place with 25 points. In eighteen matches they have accumulated 7 wins, 4 draws and 7 defeats. This season has been a nightmare for BVB fans so far. However, who will become the new manager of the Black and Yellows ?
According to some foreign media, Nico Kovac is the favourite for the coaching position. The 53-year-old Croatian coach has a lot of experience in German football. In the past, he has worked in the Bundesliga on the bench of Bayern, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. Another candidate could be former Union Berlin manager Urs Fisher. The only problem may be the fact that Urs Fisher is only willing to take over BVB until the end of the current season.
