Bayer Leverkusen could soon become the new home of Brazilian winger Antony, who could join forces with Erik ten Hag again – this time for the third time in their careers. According to behind-the-scenes information, Dutch coach Erik ten Hag would like to reunite with Brazilian Antony- currently on loan at Real Betis.
From Ajax to United – and now to Leverkusen ?
Ten Hag and Antony first met at Ajax Amsterdam, where they had a successful period together. The Brazilian quickly fit into Ten Hag’s system, excelling with his dribbling, speed and ball handling. Their partnership continued in 2022, when Ten Hag convinced Manchester United’s management to pay over €95 million for Antony – making him one of the most expensive players in the club’s history.

But Antony’s time at Old Trafford has not lived up to expectations. Although he showed flashes of talent, his performances were erratic and he often faced criticism from the media and fans alike. However, Ten Hag continued to support him and believed he just needed time.
Although nothing is official yet, the buzz around Antony and Ten Hag at Leverkusen is growing stronger. Should a transfer or a loan move actually happen, it could be a crucial step in the career of the Brazilian winger who needs a reboot- and Ten Hag may still be the only coach who can get the most out of him.
